Soot Doors and Access
Often older builds either lack sweeping access or have really problematical issues that make thorough sweeping impossible. Classic examples include self installed stoves without flexi liners and no sweeping access in the register plate. Other common problems include AGA style cookers with no access point and chimney breasts that lack correct access to remove soot. | |
A professional sweep wont just turn up, sweep and leave, they will always point out issues that affect safety, especially if soot cannot be correctly removed hence creating a fire hazard. If there are issues a good sweep will tell you about them and point out the solutions. |

We have some specialist tools (used by heritage site restorations) to help provide access with minimal mess

We fit soot doors internally and externally, depending on need and ascetics. We sometimes find flue pipes have been fitted with no sweeping access. Rather than incur expense removing and replacing the whole pipe we can cut access eyes and install removable doors, such as on the Rayburn below right. |
